Michèle Deane, TESSA Francophone Section, The Open University, United Kingdom
Amivi-Cra Komlan, TESSA coordinator at the Direction des Formations in Lomé, Togo, and her team have continued their planning for the embedding of TESSA in Togo Primary School Teacher Training curriculum. The plan follows a three-prong approach:
the translation of the Nigerian Teacher Trainers’ Toolkit into French and its adaptation to the Togolese contexts
the training of teachers/trainers in the Ecoles Normales d’Instituteurs (ENI) (Primary School Teachers training colleges) and of teaching practice supervisors to encourage them to adopt active teaching strategies in their teaching and training
the monitoring of the ENI teachers/trainers and teaching practice supervisors. It is planned that the monitoring of the trainers’ practice will enable the collection and sharing of best practice.
The finer planning of the events leading to this exciting work is about to take place and we will provide a fuller report in the next issue of the Newsletter.
